Open Forum - 

The public interest in reducing road opening and safer excavation by using a GIS based at the utility information center

 

The first conference on utility safety and management was begun in November 2003 in Hong Kong organized by HKIUS. The forum was about the importance of having a unique GIS based Utility Information center for all underground utilities and how to make use of the center to avoid unnecessary excavation and prevent accidents. It drew much attention from the public. With time flied, the conference had reached to international regions.

Open forum - 

Electricity supply lines (Protection) regulations proposed revision to the code of practice on working near electricity supply lines

 

In September 2004, there was another open forum organized by HKIUS at the Chiang Chen Studio Theatre of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. It attracted around 200 participants to the forum including government officials, consultants, contractors, utility undertakers and utility surveyors.

Technical Seminar on Contemporary Legal in the Utility Industry of Hong Kong

 

With the growing concerns within the utility industry over the current legal issues arising in recent years from the identification, protection and management of various underground utility facilities in our city, HKIUS held a technical seminar on Contemporary Legal in the Utility Industry of Hong Kong in September 2005.

The Greater China Conference on Utility Safety & Management

 

Anticipating to the plentiful potential opportunities and the responsibility to promote the rapid development of urbanization market in the Greater China (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) in the near future, HKIUS jointly organized a Greater China Conference on Utility Safety & Management with 中國城市規劃協會地下管綫專業委員會, HKARMS, HKIE-SSC, HKIUS, IOSH (Hong Kong) at Chiang Chen Studio Theatre of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 14 -15 September 2007.

The 1st ICUMAS

 

was launched in March 2009 which attracted around 300 delegates from around the globe including China, USA, Europe, Australia, and Singapore etc

The 2nd ICUMAS 

 

was held in 2011 which solicited keen supports from 70 organizations from government departments, academic institutions, professional associations from local, mainland china and overseas. The conference received overwhelmingly enthusiastic response that attracted over 500 engineering, surveyors, safety and utility practitioners, government officials, academics representatives and utility field consultants.

The 3rd ICUMAS

 

had been successfully completed in November 2013 which gathered around 400 delegates who represented no less than 35 different countries. In conclusion, the past ICUMAS have drawn great attention and embarked on the road of success.
